Downtown Palm Beach Gardens has been slowly reinventing itself since it changed its commercial and restaurant layout in 2003. But now it is full steam ahead with plans for the property to transform itself into the pinnacle of Palm Beach living!
With experts predicting 25% of malls to close permanently by 2025, it was imperative for Downtown Palm Beach Gardens to be drastically transformed in order to maintain a successful and thriving environment. With a change in consumer needs and the rise of online shopping, there has been a shift to maximize and utilize experiential living and lifestyle elements to attract new residents and consumers.
So what’s changing?
The Cheesecake Factory will be replaced with an eight-story residential tower consisting of 280 apartments next to the existing parking garage– mostly to include one and two-bedroom apartments.
The carousel is currently being relocated to a new lakefront home with landscape upgrades to the event lawn on the water. It will be surrounded by two new dog parks that will be open to the public.
Closer to the movie theater, the Texas De Brazil building will be replaced with a nine-floor tower. The first level to be reserved for retail and restaurant space, and the second floor will be used for office space. The rest of the building will be an Aloft hotel with 174 rooms – a new division of Marriott International.
The movie theater will remain, but CMX Downtown at the Gardens 16 will cut a good portion of its seats. It will still utilize all 16 screens but with less seating in each for a more comfortable experience.
A LifeTime Health Club and parking garage that was approved in 2019 is well underway and planned for completion towards the end of this year. The 118,862 SF facility will certainly bring health and wellness to a new level for local residents.
